I’ve been a professional photographer for eight years, the last six as the University Photographer at Eastern Kentucky University. I’ve been photographing weddings for about seven years… and I love it. Three years ago I made my first real push to become a serious wedding photographer. The wedding business can be very demanding and all consuming and I wasn’t sure if I was really into it. The first big wedding I shot was of JC and Kim (featured in the Gallery section) two friends of mine. I was extremely nervous. But, Kim was beautiful and posed like a natural… and in all honesty… probably made me look better than I was at that point. I remember thinking that night that I didn’t want to stop making pictures. I was hooked. I couldn’t wait for my next wedding. Every wedding after, I get better and fall more in love with my craft. My style is more my own, the flow is so much smoother and there are drastically fewer questions about what I should do next. I still get a little nervous but, it’s good for me and it shows me that I still care. The day the nerves go away is the day I shoot my last wedding.
